What is Glacial Acetic Acid, and what is it called locally?
It is the near-anhydrous form of acetic acid at 99.5% purity and above. Indian trade calls it GAA or acetic acid glacial; local markets often call it vinegar acid or sirka acid. Chemically it is ethanoic acid, and as a food additive it is E260.
What is Glacial Acetic Acid used for?
In food it makes synthetic vinegar and is used in pickling, sauces, condiments and dairy. In industry it is used in textile dyeing, rubber latex coagulation, leather processing, water treatment and as a raw material for acetate esters and acetic anhydride.
Do you supply food grade, and how does it differ from industrial grade?
Yes. Food grade meets FCC and E260 requirements with tighter limits on heavy metals and iron, and carries its own Certificate of Analysis. Industrial grade must never be used in food applications.
