Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB) Supplier, Exporter & Global Wholesaler
Searching for a dependable Cocamidopropyl Betaine supplier or exporter? You are exactly where you need to be.
PAU Chemicals is an India-based global supplier and exporter of Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB) for personal care and household cleaning formulators worldwide.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine is the most widely used amphoteric surfactant in personal care. Derived from coconut oil, it is valued less as a primary cleanser than as the ingredient that makes a formulation work: it boosts foam, thickens the system and sharply reduces the irritation of harsher anionic surfactants.
PAU Chemicals supplies CAPB at 30% active matter with controlled sodium chloride, free amine and monochloroacetate, packed in HDPE drums for stable storage and clean sea transport.
If your shampoo will not thicken with salt alone, check the CAPB level before adding more thickener. The SLES–CAPB ratio is usually what controls viscosity build in a sulphate system.

What is CAPB, and what is it called locally?
It is Cocamidopropyl Betaine, a coconut-derived amphoteric surfactant. Formulators usually call it CAPB or coco betaine.
What is it used for?
Shampoos, body wash, baby cleansers, hand wash and dishwash liquids, where it boosts foam, builds viscosity and reduces irritation.
Why is it used with SLES rather than instead of it?
CAPB is a secondary surfactant. Paired with SLES it thickens the system and cuts irritation, but on its own it does not give enough detergency for a full cleansing formulation.
Does it help with thickening?
Yes. In sulphate systems the SLES–CAPB ratio is usually what controls salt-response viscosity, so adjusting CAPB is often more effective than adding more salt.
Is it suitable for baby and sensitive-skin products?
It is widely used in gentle formulations because of its mildness. Free amine and monochloroacetate are controlled on every batch, and final suitability should be confirmed by your own dermatological testing.
How should it be stored, and what is the shelf life?
Cool and dry between 5 and 35 °C in sealed drums. Around 12 months. Avoid freezing, which can cause separation.
What packing sizes and minimum order quantity do you offer?
220/230 kg drums and IBCs. Export MOQ is 1 FCL.
Which ports and Incoterms do you ship on, and how long does delivery take?
Hazira and Nhava Sheva on EXW, FOB, C&F and CIF terms, typically 3 to 4 weeks, shipping as general cargo.
