Calcium Propionate Supplier, Exporter & Global Wholesaler
Searching for a dependable Calcium Propionate supplier or exporter? You are exactly where you need to be.
PAU Chemicals is an India-based global supplier and exporter of Calcium Propionate (E282) in food and feed grades, for bakeries, cheese processors and feed millers worldwide.
Calcium Propionate is the most widely used mould inhibitor in commercial baking. It suppresses mould and rope-causing bacteria in bread and baked goods without interfering with yeast activity at normal use levels.
Because it also contributes calcium, it is often the preferred preservative where a bakery wants shelf life extension without a sodium addition — a growing requirement in reduced-sodium product lines.
PAU Chemicals supplies food grade meeting FCC and E282 requirements in powder and granular form, plus feed grade for animal nutrition.
Dose it into the dry mix rather than the water phase, and keep to the level permitted in your destination market. Overdosing slows yeast and flattens the loaf without adding shelf life.

What is Calcium Propionate, and what is it called locally?
It is the calcium salt of propionic acid, listed as food additive E282. Bakeries usually call it simply the bread preservative or mould inhibitor.
What is it used for?
Preventing mould and rope in bread, buns, cakes, tortillas and packaged bakery goods. Feed grade is used to protect animal feed, silage and stored grain.
Does it affect the yeast in my dough?
At normal use levels it does not. Overdosing does slow fermentation and gives a denser loaf, so stay within the level permitted in your market and dose into the dry mix.
How much should I use?
Typical bakery use sits in the low tenths of a percent on flour weight, but the permitted maximum differs by country and product category. Confirm the limit in your destination market before finalising the recipe.
Why choose it over sodium-based preservatives?
It adds calcium instead of sodium, which suits reduced-sodium product lines, and it is effective against rope-causing bacteria as well as mould.
Do you supply feed grade as well as food grade?
Yes, as separate grades with their own documentation. Food grade meets FCC and E282 limits on heavy metals, arsenic and fluoride and must be specified where the product is for human consumption.
How should it be stored, and what is the shelf life?
In sealed bags in a cool, dry place away from moisture and strong odours. It is mildly hygroscopic, and caking from humidity makes dosing uneven.
Which ports and Incoterms do you ship on, and how long does delivery take?
We load from Hazira and Nhava Sheva on EXW, FOB, C&F and CIF terms, typically 3 to 4 weeks, shipping as general cargo. Export MOQ is 1 FCL.
