Caustic Potash (KOH) Supplier, Exporter & Global Wholesaler
PAU Chemicals is an India-based global supplier and exporter of Caustic Potash (Potassium Hydroxide) in 90% flakes, for soap, biodiesel, fertiliser and pharmaceutical buyers worldwide.
Caustic Potash is the potassium counterpart to caustic soda, and the difference matters wherever a soft or soluble product is required. Potassium soaps are liquid and free-rinsing where sodium soaps are hard bars.
It is also the standard catalyst for biodiesel transesterification, and the route to a wide range of potassium salts used in fertilisers and speciality chemicals.
PAU Chemicals supplies 90% minimum flakes in sealed moisture-free packing for buyers with bulk handling.
KOH flakes are strongly deliquescent — an opened bag left in humid air turns to slush within hours. Decant what you need and reseal immediately, and always add flakes to water, never water to flakes.Technical Specifications

What is Caustic Potash, and what is it called locally?
It is potassium hydroxide, KOH, sold in the trade as caustic potash, potash lye or simply KOH flakes. It is the potassium equivalent of caustic soda.
What is it used for?
Liquid soap and potassium soap manufacture, biodiesel catalysis, potassium salts and fertilisers, alkaline batteries, pharmaceuticals, textile processing and industrial cleaning.
How is it different from caustic soda?
Caustic potash produces soft, liquid, freely soluble soaps and potassium salts; caustic soda produces hard bar soaps and sodium salts. KOH is more expensive but essential wherever a soluble potassium product is required.
Why is it the preferred biodiesel catalyst?
It dissolves readily in methanol, gives fast transesterification, and the potassium-bearing glycerol by-product has value as a fertiliser input — which improves the overall process economics.
Is it hazardous to handle?
Yes. It is strongly corrosive (UN 1813, Class 8) and causes severe burns. Dissolution is violently exothermic. Use goggles, gloves and an apron, and always add flakes to water, never water to flakes.
How should it be stored, and what is the shelf life?
In sealed, moisture-barrier packing in a dry place away from acids. It is highly deliquescent — it absorbs water from the air and turns to liquid, and it also absorbs carbon dioxide, which raises carbonate content.
What packing sizes and minimum order quantity do you offer?
25 kg /50 kg lined bags and for flakes; IBC or road tanker for liquid. Export MOQ is 1 FCL.
Which ports and Incoterms do you ship on, and how long does delivery take?
We load from Hazira and Nhava Sheva on EXW, FOB, C&F and CIF terms, typically 3 to 4 weeks, with full DG documentation included.
